Protecting Your Product from Dust

When thinking about protecting your product, you may immediately think about using cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, tape, and other heavy-duty packing materials. However, not all products require such extensive protective measures. At times, a simple method of keeping your product free from dust, dirt, and moisture will do.

In this regard, poly bags can serve as an excellent option.

A poly bag provides a simple barrier between your product and its surroundings. For example, clothing, fabrics, books, hand tools, small parts, craft supplies, and similar products could benefit from being enclosed in a poly bag prior to storage or shipment.

Warehouses can provide clean environments; however, dust remains present regardless. In most cases, a product left exposed for extended periods of time, such as weeks or months, may need cleaning prior to packaging for shipment. Utilizing a poly bag can significantly reduce the need for such cleaning.

Additionally, poly bags can also prove to be beneficial within shipping boxes. Consider shipping a brand-new shirt to one of your customers. While the cardboard box itself will protect the shirt throughout the transportation process, enclosing the shirt within a clear poly bag provides additional protection to the garment. Should the box become soiled or experience exposure to minor amounts of water during shipping, the shirt will enjoy added protection due to its enclosure within the poly bag.

It's equally important to consider what type of bag would best meet your requirements. Lighter-weight products possessing smooth edges typically only require thin poly bags. Conversely, heavier products or those with rough edges typically require thicker poly bags capable of resisting tearing or puncturing.

Also, think about how you prefer the bag to seal. For instance, if you're looking for simplicity in your packing requirements, an open-top poly bag is likely sufficient. Alternatively, self-sealing bags will save you time during the packing process, and resealable bags allow you to open and close them multiple times without compromising their integrity.

Ultimately, attempt to match the size of the poly bag to the product itself. The poly bag should be large enough to accommodate the product completely, yet should contain minimal excess space.
